On October 12, 2011, the Atlas Network awarded Indego Africa its 2011 Templeton Freedom Award in Social Entrepreneurship for "innovative projects on social entrepreneurship to benefit the poor."
Fair Trade Federation's Award for Excellence In Product Design
In 2011 the Fair Trade Federation awarded Indego Africa its 2011 award for “Excellence in Product Design” for exceptional work in the field of product design.
Subject of Harvard Business School Case Study
On November 10, 2010, HBS published a comprehensive case study about Indego Africa (available here). "[Indego] understood the importance of building an organizational infrastructure and to-market opportunities first," remarked HBS professor Kathleen McGinn in a Jan. 5, 2010 article on Law.com. "That gives them the potential to quickly expand globally. This is completely backward from what everyone else does. They created all the processes before they started, designed all the procedures, translated them into the language the women needed and created the links to the America market."
Fair Trade Federation's Award for Most Positive Change in a Producer Community
On Sept. 19, 2010, Indego Africa won the coveted Fair Trade Federation award for “Most Positive Change in a Producer Community,” which was presented at the 2010 Fair Trade Futures Conference. “Indego Africa stood out among the six nominees for this particular award,” remarked Carmen K. Iezzi, Fair Trade Federation executive director. “Their innovative business and education model creates a broad, deep, and sustainable impact on the artisans’ lives.”
New York International Gift Fair Sustainability Award
On December 20, 2010, out of 200 exhibitors, the New York International Gift Fair acknowledged Indego Africa as achieving the highest level of sustainability for their products, production processes and business practices.
AfriPRO’s Charity of the Year
On December 11, 2010, Indego Africa won the Charity of the Year Award from AfriPRO Houston, a non-profit organization building a new positive image of and appreciation for Africa and Africans by organizing business, charitable, and professional events that inform, educate, empower, and celebrate Africa and Africans.

In June 2010 supporters from all over the U.S. voted to make Indego Africa one of GREAT*Nonprofits Top Rated Women's Empowerment Nonprofit.
Skandalaris Center Award for Social Entrepreneurship & Innovation
On May 13, 2008, Indego Africa was awarded first prize at the Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurship's Social Entrepreneurship & Innovation Competition at Washington University in Saint Louis for best utilizing “entrepreneurial skills to craft innovative processes, approaches, and solutions to help resolve social issues."
Echoing Green Global Semifinalist
In May 2008, Indego Africa was recognized as an Echoing Green Semifinalist. Echoing Green Global is nonprofit that provides seed funding and technical assistance to emerging social entrepreneurs with ideas for social change.
