Calling All Volunteers!
Thursday, 26 July 2007
Indego Africa is always looking for a few great volunteers to help with its projects.  A remote location is no barrier to us putting you to good use.  If you have a computer and a couple hours to spare, you can make a difference for Indego Africa and the women we help.  Some internet research on foundations?  Write about us for a blog or Wikipedia?  Improve our social networking sites?  We have small projects in marketing, fundraising, and web design just waiting for you.  Visit our Project Spreadsheet and then send an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it   for more information.

Global Institute for Social Innovation
Thursday, 26 July 2007

Our President, Matt Mitro, just got back from the StartingBloc Global Institute for Social Innovation in London.  He reports that it was a great opportunity to network with fellow social entrepreneurs and professionals in the corporate social responsibility field.  Matt learned a lot from all the participants and presentations.  It was inspiring to see so many young people out there committed to doing great things.  Check it out at http://www.startingbloc.org.

Going to Rwanda
Wednesday, 04 July 2007

Indego Africa has finally put together its first trip abroad and will be sending a great group of volunteers to Rwanda from August 8-21.  The team consists of Matt Mitro, Tom Mitro, Byron Townsend and Lyse Hunger.  Matt and Tom will be leading the delegation and trying to work out all the logistical issues.  Byron will be lending a helping hand in his own unique way and be looking at ways that his congregation might establish a mission relationship in Rwanda.  Lyse Hunger is our experienced Rwandan guide and we look forward to what she will be showing us.  We will keep you posted on our preparations in this space, unless you would rather not hear about yellow fever injections and malaria prophylactics.

IRS Certification!
Monday, 25 June 2007

I am very happy to report that Indego Africa became an IRS-certified 501(c)(3) public charity on July 3, 2007.  This recognition by the IRS is simply a confirmation of the hard work that all the volunteers have been putting in to getting our projects up and running.  We hope this provides extra motivation and recognition for Indego Africa volunteers.  Congratulations to everyone!

Indego at the Oscars

Indego Africa's wine coasters and agaseke baskets were featured at the 2008 Academy Awards as part of the "Gifting for a Cause" gift bags given to more than 70 celebrities, such as April Scott of CSI: Miami (above). The gift suites are "exclusive and very selective" and Indego Africa's participation reflected their mission of "devis[ing] a gift that was trendsetting, philanthropic, multicultural and of personal interest to the celebrities."
